I’m not big on practical jokes, but when a group of people can draw the attention – NOT ire – of even the busiest New Yorker, I’m intrigued.
Improv Everywhere , a group dedicated to “causing scenes”, caused a definite scene in New York’s Grand Central Station back in January of this year. Their mission? To freeze in place for five full minutes while NY and New Yorkers buzzed on around them. The mission was aptly titled, Frozen Grand Central.
The reactions are fun, the result amazing. What a cool – harmless – project. And how nice that New Yorkers stopped to take note. See? We’re not all about getting from here to there and nothing more. If you stop dead in our path… we do notice. 😉
Debbie, I have heard about the FREEZING that is going on in NYC’s Grand Central Station. It’s such wonderful humor.
LOL, what a great video. That was really fun to watch. The poor guy driving the cart was a little frustrated though. Good thing it was only for 5 minutes.
I was only in NYC once, but I found the people friendly, if a little outspoken. Like the waitress at the deli who asked my friend who only ate half her bagel, “Why you no eat?”
Linda
Kathleen,
It is wonderful humor. One thing for sure though, you can tell the native New Yorkers from the tourists and transplants. 😉

This is so cool. I can’t imagine what I would do. It reminds me of a friend who went to a wax museum and saw the world’s biggest woman. He made all sorts of comments and walked aroung her and stared. Suddenly she moved and he realized it wasn’t a wax figure. Can you imagine HIS shock??
Linda
Lyndi,
He was frustrated but much more patient than I’d expect. I was waiting for him to flip the cart into reverse and peel out around those buggers. LOL.
Oh, and, about the outspoken waitress you metioned… I’m a little surprised she didn’t smack the back of your friend’s head and say, “Whatsa madda wit you?! Eat!” It’s what I woulda done.
Kidding, of course.
Sorta…

Linda!
Too funny about the wax-woman. LOL. Poor guy must have clutched his heart after that one.

I’ve seen that before but it’s fun to see it again. 🙂
Laura,
I keep watching it. What an amazing sight. Such fun.

Improv Everywhere does all sorts of cool things. Thanks for posting the video.
Marly,
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. It was fun, wasn’t it?!
Rhonda,
Their website is full of their adventures. How cool – and how brave. Even with NY blood in me, I could never be as brazen as they are. But what fun.

That is so cool. It certainly made me smile. It was even funnier that some one gave it a name “freezenstration” how NY
KD,
I didn’t hear the “freezenstration” reference. Too funny. I’ll have to watch it again, not that I mind. It’s certainly is cool. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
