Wait! There’s a baby in the toilet!

How on earth can a woman not only go into labor, but deliver without knowing? How? And how on earth could it happen while she’s using the loo…  on a train… in India… where the loo empties directly onto the tracks…

According to the Associated Press, an Indian woman who was seven months pregnant, had to use the facilities while riding the train through an area in India. This tiny preemie of hers is an adventure seeker, I’d say, because he slipped right out of her, through the chute and onto the tracks where rail workers soon found him – with barely a scratch.

Now, tell me truthfully, don’t you want to know what kind of life this little daredevil is going to have? The writer in me wants to use his entrance into the world as a leap-off point for a book. The layman in me wants to see Steven Spielberg, George Lucas or Steven King’s take on it. How cool. Talk about inspiration. I couldn’t write a backstory like that for my characters. Who would believe it?

What anecdotes have you heard that seem too far out there to be real… but are?

  • Hard to imagine, Debbie. Maybe some women have uneventful labor. I’m glad to hear the baby is okay. What a miracle. Mary Alice (Kathleen’s cousin)

  • I read this story and almost thought it must be a hoax. Something to do with Leap Day? But they showed the little baby. So cute and unharmed. For sure it wouldn’t make it as fiction.

I’m trying to come up with strange but true events but right off I can’t.

  • Amazing that he survived unscathed. He’s got a great guardian angel already on duty.

  • Honey, that’s not just a cramp. Oooo, I hate women like her who pop out kids like they were Pez! 14 hours of induced labor and then an emergency c-section. I hate her. I hate her. I hate her.
How on earth did she not know she gave birth? Well I guess any baby would be though coming from a mother who doesn’t feel the excruciating pain of childbirth! Hopefully the little tike didn’t inherit his mother’s stupidity as well.

  • Yeah, pretty bad if you ask me. Had she never had a period or thought they came seven months (or more) apart? By the way, she’s not getting the baby back is she? Doesn’t sound like she’d make the best mother. But that could just be me.

But funny you should ask about hearing something so far out there to be real – but is. Yesterday I was surfing the net and came across a story about a man who wanted a day off of work, so he had his friend shoot him in the shoulder. You can read it here -> http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23421911/ If I ever want a day off that bad, please just help me write my letter of resignation instead, okay? 🙂
